Beer Yeast Waste Adds Flavor to Japanese Whisky

Who’d have thunk that all that yeast waste would get a second life?

Coopers managing director Tim Cooper said the waste yeast would be shipped to giant Japanese distiller Suntory to help improve the flavour and complexity of its whisky.

He said the yeast would provide “fruity flavours” to the whisky.

Mmmm, yeast waste…
