Beer and Booze Increase Colorectal Cancer Risk

Just when you thought all the beer-related health news was rosy, it seems a recent study found people “defined as heavy beer or spirits drinkers faced more than twice the risk of developing significant colorectal neoplasia, compared with abstainers or moderate consumers”. Neoplasia is a fancy term for tumor.

Wine drinkers were about half as likely as abstainers to be at risk. I’m no doctor, but it would probably be too hopeful to just do the math and figure that if you had a glass of wine for every beer then you’d be back where you started as far as risk.
