Kirin Re-Releasing Early Beers for 100th Anniversary

To celebrate their 100th anniversary in February 2007, Kirin is bringing back a couple beers from their early history and a new anniversary beer:

The old-style Kirin Lager of the Meiji Era (1868-1912) is made as it was at the Japan Brewing Company when it started brewing Kirin Beer in 1888. The Kirin Pilsener is a Taisho Era (1912-1926) beer made as it was when the first Kirin beer factory was built in Yokohama in 1907.

On January 17th, Kirin will be releasing a limited 100th Anniversary bottled beer, and they have even more beer/campaign surprises for 2007.

Check out the article for more details. Thanks, Michael, for the link.

Beer and a Movie Tonight at Orlando Brewing’s Taproom

I'm a bit late posting this since it is tonight, but for those of you in the Orlando area:

Orlando Brewing presents the World Premiere of the Independent short film: Word Warriors: A Modern Day Ukiyo-e. The short film is produced by Creative Compound, a local group of artists, including director James White. The film is about a young man who daydreams about his favorite musicians and a traditional Japanese style of painting. The result is a stimulating blend of two art forms.

The premiere of this short film is at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 5th, at the Taproom. The Taproom is located at 1301 Atlanta Avenue in Orlando. The event is $10 per person and includes live performances of the musicians featured in the movie. Proceeds will help support local artists and independent film-makers.

Supporting the local arts and the local beer can only happen in the Orlando Brewing Taproom. Orlando Brewing is located at 1301 Atlanta Avenue, near Downtown Orlando. For more information and directions, check out www.orlandobrewing.com or call (407) 872-1117.

Celebrate Repeal Day

As we noted before, today is the 73rd anniversary of the end of Prohibition in the US. Here's some ways to celebrate:

  • Visit your local brewery.
  • Try a beer you've never had before.
  • If you have a good beer store nearby, go there and ask them to pick 5 of their favorites for you.

What are you going to do?

UPDATE: I feel like a total slacker compared to Mike at Days That End in Y who came up with one suggested way to celebrate for each year. Yes, 73 of them! I raise my mug to you, sir!
