Orlando Brewing will celebrate Oktoberfest on Saturday, September 15. Authentic German food will be available starting at 6pm. Brewmaster Ed Canty will debut his Oktoberfest beer that evening, served in a commemorative mug you can keep (only $10, $4 for a refill). Live music with The Bavarians begins at 7pm. It will be the most fun this side of Munich!

The 15th is shaping up to be a great day in Orlando with the Downtown Triathlon in the morning, UCF’s home opener vs. Texas at 3:30 PM and Oktoberfest that night. The common thread tying the three together? Beer, of course!

Beer’s smartest and most prolific writer, Michael Jackson, has passed away. Sadly, I haven’t had a chance to read one of Michael Jackson’s many books on beer. I have one in my Amazon cart from a few months ago but haven’t ordered it yet. I’ll remedy that this weekend.

BELGRADE, Serbia (Reuters) — A 23-year old Serb was found dead and half-eaten in the bear cage of Belgrade Zoo at the weekend during the annual beer festival.

The man was found naked, with his clothes lying intact inside the cage. Two adult bears, Masha and Misha, had dragged the body to their feeding corner and reacted angrily when keepers tried to recover it.

In Serbia, the zookeepers must be no-nonsense types that cut to the chase:

“There’s a good chance he was drunk or drugged. Only an idiot would jump into the bear cage,” zoo director Vuk Bojovic told Reuters.
