Usually when I tell people that I love chocolate and beer, they look at me like I grew a second (albeit somewhat smaller and physically distorted) head. It is good to see this article on Slashfood about pairing chocolate and beer.
I'd agree that porters and stouts are the best with chocolate but I've had some good experiences with ales and lagers but typically with the heavier or stronger ones.

Well, isn't that fab?!?!? I saw this story at On Tap the other day and while it was somewhat interesting, I was hoping it would just go away. Unfortunately, now it looks like they are going to be advertising this pig during the Super Bowl. The Brewmaster at On Tap sums it up nicely: “The thing that gets me is that A-B and the big urine brewers are the ones that have given beer in US that terrible image to start with.”
Amen, brother! I need a beer…
UPDATE: Alan at A Good Beer Blog has a less cynical take on this.

Believe it or don't, we here at Hail the Ale! don't spend all our time frequenting all the beer joints on these here Internets. Sometimes we go into some of the better gin joints and such and find other alcohol-related goodies that our dear readers may enjoy.
Cocktail.com has a list of football (American, not that one with the round ball) drinks cleverly named after penalties and plays in football. Since I don't really care for mixed drinks, the Quarterback Sack seems like it tastes authentic.

When the time comes for me to get a new chain, maybe I'll give this a try. Not sure where I'll get a spare chainring from though…
Or, if you want to just buy one, you can get one from this site for a scant $12.
