What a novel idea:
A Maine college takes an unusual approach to
curbing drinking: allowing students who are over 21 to drink wine and
beer with dinner on campus. The policy is an unconventional method at
trying to convey lessons on moderate drinking.
Will
it work? Beats me. I do know that college students are like the rest of
us: some will take advantage of the systems and some will respond
positively.

R U Pissed? offers a nice online
calculator to estimate your BAL based on your age, height, weight and
number and types of drinks you had in a given time period. A nice
service, but even filling it out sober was a task. I guess if you have
been drinking and can't fill it out then you shouldn't be driving.

Why, you ask? Well…
“We cleaned up almost 26 tonnes of broken glass on the floor of my tent,” at last year's beer festival, said Wiggerl Hagn.
“The waitresses won't have to carry such heavy loads anymore. These
cups weigh around a kilogram less than those made out of glass,” he
said, confirming a report in the Munich TZ newspaper.
When
I think of Oktoberfest (I *will* go one year…) I picture the
waitresses carrying massive steins of beer and wonder how they do it.
This kinda kills that image.

Personally, I could care less about carbs (assuming you are talking
carbohydrates and not carburators). But, if counting carbs is your
thing, this may be good news:
Scientists at University College Cork in Ireland have brewed an
Atkins-friendly stout that has 60% fewer carbohydrates and a quarter
fewer calories than regular stout. The inventors claim the lighter
pint, to be presented at a food industry showcase next month, has the
same consistency, taste and texture as its full-bodied equivalent.
